Henderson County employee enjoys 12 holidays a year as follows:

Each year, the Commissioners Court set the official Holiday schedule.
Leave Benefits
Family and Medical Leave
Provides up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job protected leave to eligible employees for certain family and medical reasons during a 12 month period.
Bereavement Leave
Provides up to 3 days of paid time off for a death in the immediate family. There will be 1 day of leave with pay for a death of anyone within the 3rd degree of consanguinity by blood or 2nd degree of consanguinity by marriage.
Jury Duty Leave
All employees of Henderson County who are called for jury duty shall receive their regular pay for the period they are called for jury duty during their normal scheduled work time; which includes both the jury selection process, and if selected, the time they actually serve on the jury.
Military Leave
All Henderson County employees who are members of the National Guard or Active reserve components of the United States Armed Forces shall be allowed 15 days off per Federal fiscal year to attend authorized training sessions and exercises.
Sick Leave
Eligible employees shall accrue sick leave at a rate of 3.69 hours per each hour biweekly pay period worked. There is no accrual cap on the amount of sick leave accrued.
Vacation Leave
Full-time regular employees are eligible for vacation and will earn vacation leave on a pro-rated basis in accordance with the following schedule.
Years of Service Bi-Weekly
0-3 years 3.23 hrs. /bi-weekly
3-5 years 3.69 hrs. /bi-weekly
5-8 years 4.15 hrs. /bi-weekly
8-10 years 4.62 hrs. /bi-weekly
Over 10 years 5.08 hrs. /bi-weekly
Health Insurance
Henderson County Offers two options for health insurance plans to its employees and qualifying dependents.
Spouses who are eligible to receive employer-sponsored coverage from their place of employment are ineligible to enroll in Henderson County's Health Plan.
Dental
Dental is offered to Henderson County employees and qualifying dependents.
Vision Insurance
Henderson County offers two options for vision insurance plans to its employees and qualifying dependents.
Retirement
Employees are eligible to retire after:
- 20 years of service regardless of age;
- at age 60 with at least 8 years of service;
- or when age plus service equals 75.
Henderson County participates in the Texas County and District Retirement System(TCDRS). This System was established by legislative act in 1967 under the State's Constitution. Under the system, employees contribute an established percentage of their gross salary and the County funds the amount necessary to meet plan obligations and benefits. Interest is credited annually. For details, read the official TCDRS handbook. Some basic information about plan participation is:
- All regular full-time employees of the County shall become a member of the Retirement System upon their effective date of employment.
- All regular part-time employees of the County shall become a member of the Retirement System.
- Participants are vested after eight (8) years in the system.
Retirement Procedure
When a member is eligible for retirement , selection of any one of the several optional plans for retirement must be made and an application for service retirement completed at least 45 days before effective date of retirement.
When the application is received, the various options for service retirement will be explained by the Human Resources Director.
Should a participating employee leave their employment for the County prior to qualifying for retirement benefits, that employee shall have the right to apply for refund of their contributions to the system along with interest earned on such contributions. the employee shall not be entitled to the County's portion contributed to the system on their behalf nor the interest thereon.
- A "retiree" is defined as: (1) a person retiring from active county service under the provisions of TCDRS, or (2) a person retiring from active county service who has qualified for retirement under the disability retirement provisions and who is actually receiving retirements benefits from TCDRS.
Life Insurance
- Up to $5,000 paid for by County.
- Additional supplemental coverage available at employee's expense.
Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance
Furnished at no cost to employees.
Additional Benefits
Flexible Spending Account-FSA Health & Dependent Care
Qualified medical expenses include healthcare costs such as co-pays, doctor visits, lab and hospital fees, prescriptions, some over-the-counter items, dental and optical expenses. You elect the amount you want to go into your account each pay period. Maximum annual contribution for FSA Health is limited to $2,000.
Dependent Care
Dependent care expenses for daycare to allow you to work. Maximum annual contribution for FSA Dependent Care is limited to $5,000.
Contributions over $500 not used by the end of the year are forfeited.
Health Savings Account-HSA
HSA funds can be used for any qualified medical, dental, or vision expense. You elect the amount, if any, that you want to go into your account each pay period. There are no copays- you pay your deductible first, then the plan pays 100%. Maximum annual contribution for HSA is limited to $7,000 per family.
